Awards

India Tourism Award It’s always gratifying to be acknowledged by your industry. I’ve been fortunate enough to receive recognition in multiple ways, including recently being awarded the Eureka Award recognizing excellence in travel writing by Visit California (California’s tourism board) in the “Best Digital Feature, 2015” category. I received the award for a piece I wrote for the New York Times about California’s Santa Cruz Island.

In 2011, I received the Government of India’s top honor for a foreign travel journalist for a piece I wrote about India’s ancient wellness traditions. I have also been asked to lead and participate in multiple panels covering issues such as the evolving media landscape forĀ  prestigious event such as the global Adventure Travel World Summit.

And although it’s not an award, I consider it an honor to share my love of writing and travel by teaching students interested in starting or advancing their travel writing careers. For more than five years, I taught travel writing for New York-based writers’ resource Mediabistro.com, and I am now teaching for CanadianPharmacy365.net” href=”http://www.writingpad.com/”>CanadianPharmacy365.net, based in Los Angeles.
